Cefoperazone Sodium & Sulbactam Sodium for Injection 3000mg

Composition:
This veterinary injection combines two potent antibiotics:

  • Cefoperazone Sodium: A third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic known for its broad-spectrum activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
  • Sulbactam Sodium: A β-lactamase inhibitor that enhances the efficacy of Cefoperazone by inhibiting bacterial enzymes that degrade β-lactam antibiotics.

Indications:
This injection is used in veterinary medicine to treat severe bacterial infections in animals, including:

  • Respiratory tract infections
  • Soft tissue and skin infections
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Intra-abdominal infections
  • Septicemia and other systemic infections

Mechanism of Action:

  • Cefoperazone Sodium disrupts bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell death.
  • Sulbactam Sodium prevents the destruction of Cefoperazone by binding to β-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, extending the spectrum of activity.

Dosage and Administration:

  • Route: Administered intramuscularly (IM) or intravenously (IV).
  • Dosage: Typically determined based on the weight and condition of the animal. A veterinary professional should specify the exact dosage.

Key Features:

  • Broad-spectrum efficacy against β-lactamase-producing bacteria.
  • High potency in treating multi-drug-resistant bacterial infections.
  • Effective in both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial infections.

Precautions:

  • Use under veterinary supervision only.
  • Perform a sensitivity test to determine bacterial susceptibility before administration.
  • Monitor for allergic reactions or adverse effects in animals.
  • Adjust dosage in cases of renal or hepatic impairment.

Storage:

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • Reconstitute the injection only as needed and use immediately after preparation to maintain sterility and efficacy.
